Where can I order specific automotive electrical connectors for sensors etc.?

automobile engines use a myraid of senors and electronically controlled devices. Many of which have unique connectors with multiple pins. In my case, I need the clip or plug that connects onto the Vehiclest Speed Sensor (VSS) for a 1995 integra. Trips to junkyards have been unsucessfull. Many used part retailers will not cut a plug from a good harness. According to my research the VSS used in integras from 1994-2001 were not used in other vehicles ( http://www.tomco-inc.com/Catalog/vehicle%20speed%20sensors.pdf ) . The oem part number is 78410-st7-003.... Who makes these connectors? Does anybody stock them? Honda/Acura will sell a compete haness for several hundred dollars. This particular one is hard to find on ebay. Which is where I acquired the damaged one I have now. I've tried to modify civic/accord plugs without success.

Well my friend, you have pretty much answered this question through your research. It is going to be very hard to find this connector by cutting it from the harness. In my experience, to get a certain connector, you will have to buy that section of the wiring harness either from the dealer or a salvage yard, which you have already stated that it can be costly or used auto part retailers would not cut the plug from a good harness. Salvage yards usually will not do that if the harness is good. When you are dealing with a vehicle's wiring , your sources for replacement are very limited to either the dealer or salvage yard. Several years ago, vehicle sensors were made with a pigtail wiring so that if the plug became faulty, you could cut the plugs and still have enough wire from the sensor to splice it together with insulated connectors, now they make sensors where you have to plug directly into them, thus, elimating the pigtail wiring. The way these harness plugs are made now is so that the shadetree mechanic as well as mechanics like myself has to refer to the two sources mentioned above. It was basically a planned thing by the automaker so that they can keep the cash flow towards them instead of independent auto parts stores, in better terms, a dealer only replacement part.
